THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS, ROADMAP TO ETERNITY
Book by Stuart Trotter
The Fourth Way is a system of understanding the esoteric world created by G. J. Gurdjieff, whom I believe to be one of the great mystics and teachers of the 20th. Century. Among many esotericists drawn to his teachings the most prominent were P. D. Ouspensky and Maurice Nicol, both eminent practitioners in their own right. I regard Ouspensky as the leading speculative philosopher of his own time, and Nicol, who studied under and was a close associate of Jung, a leading light of the psychological view of the esoteric tradition. Between those three men and their diverse views of the same ‘practise’, lies the deepest view of the Western esoteric tradition in their time. It is through their knowledge and inspiration that I have come to my understanding of the nature of Creation that I propose in ” Through The Looking Glass, The Road Map To Eternity”. This book is intended to elucidate the nature of the Conscious Creation within the language and cultural traditions of our own time, bringing to the lay mind a better sense of the nature of the Universe from that point of view. The language used is as straightforward as is possible, and all the major aspects of the Conscious Creation are covered, albeit in a truncated view. For followers of Ouspensky, this work also completes his theory of ‘Recurrence.
I am now 68 years old and have been following an esoteric school known as “The Fourth Way” with varying degrees of intensity for some fifty years now. In that time I have also been involved with the Theosophical Society of Scotland, and have served that Society in varying roles over an extensive period of time, including four years as Organising Secretary. Though not strictly a Theosophist myself, I have found that philosophy to be particularly sympathetic with the Fourth Way, and am fortunate to have many friends within that Society who have been and are very supportive of my work.

There is no religion or law higher than Truth
H.P. Blavatsky

Three Objects of the Society
- To form a nucleus of the Universal Brotherhood of Humanity, without distinction of race, creed, sex, caste, or color.
- To encourage the study of Comparative Religion, Philosophy, and Science.
- To investigate unexplained laws of Nature and the powers latent in Man.

"The word Theosophy has been used for many centuries; it is a compound word of Greek
origin meaning Wisdom of the
Gods (Theos - of Gods,
Sophia - wisdom). Wisdom
cannot be enclosed within
words, it is Truth which must be
discovered and experienced.
Each of us must find our own
'Truth' and strive to understand
our own spiritual nature"
